Astra Mileage

    I'm looking at a 1998ish Astra just to use to get to work each day. It's a
    60 mile round trip. What sort of mileage can I get away with on the car i'm
    buying?

    I know it all depends how it's been looked after but how far will say a 1.6
    Petrol go? What about the 1.7 diesel?

    ive got a y reg 2.ltr dti and my round trip is 52 miles
    i use shell diesel and taking it easy can get 60 mpg

    It not just me then. I've got a 52 plate 2.0 DTI and my personal best so far
    is 64.5 mpg. :eek:)

    and the bonus is no cambelt to replace every 40000 miles
