hi there.ive found this newsgroup very helpful and informative and wonder if
anyone help me with a problem alarm? I have a 1997 mk 3 astra estate
fitted with a Vauxhall alarm. which will go off for no apparent reason. it
will go off at anytime from 3 mins up to 10-11 hours after locking the car.
is there anyway to determine what is doing it?
the l.e.d on the hazard switch flashes once around every 1.5 seconds,is this
correct? and also could it be the car battery ?. is there a way that I can
turn the alarm off and lock the car?
    best wishes

"is there a way that I can

Cant help with the symptoms, but try opening the rear drivers door and
locking the drivers front door from the inside, then closing the rear door.
that should secure the car without turning the alarm on.

this has been covered many times b4.
there are many things that set it off.

firstly, go for the obvious, disable the internal movement sensors by
hitting the switch which disables them on the front consol.
that will tell you if you have any airflow or moving air fresheners flapping
    around.

second candidate is the batteries in the siren module. this normally lets
you know its on its way out by 4 short pips upon diasle/enable, though it is
    not foolproof.

when was the last time the siren module was changed? they only last about
    5-6 yrs.at best.

you should be able to find it!

if you DIY.....you must only disconnect/reconnect it with the alarm OFF with
the ignition switched ON else it will go off by itself until the bats go
    flat.

Forgot to say: be carefull if you start doing this as its a helluva good way
to lock your keys in the car.
