Astra 2litre DTI estate Dec 02 Bonnet jammed

    Trying to open the bonnet on this b*g**r. When the handle is pulled
    just get a clunking noise from under the bonnet, but no movement and
    the front pull does not extend.

    THe whole of the front end seems to be screened so access to the lock
    seems iffy that way.

    Anybody any ideas of how to release?

    Only suggestion I can think of is to get someone to press down slightly on
    the bonnet while you pull the handle. This could take the pressure off the
    catch and allow it to release the catch and then the person pressing on the
    bonnet hopefully will be able to lift it to the safety stop.
