99 Vectra 1.8 - Wipers coming to rest 1/3 up windscreen.

Just bought a 99 Vectra 1.8 Artic which intially looks to be in good
condition.

One issue is that the front windscreen wipers are coming to rest about a
third of the way up the windscreen. After a cycle they go to the bottom of
the windscreen and then come back up a third of the way before coming to
rest.

It does this in all mode.

Anyone any idea what may be causing this and how to rectify it.

Wonder if it has had a new motor fitted and hasn't had the linkage lined up
properly.

 

ho hum.
i think that was my very first question & the reason i joined the group
several years ago.

there are couple of microswitches/arm in the motor itself that get bent
but i found mine to have been wrongly refitted after the cambelt was done on
me sintra.

this i discovered by T&E cause they did 'park' as such, when switched off.

the eventual cure was to loose large flat cam on the top of the motor shaft
and rotate it round a bit gently moving the wipers with it.
you will finda point, oneway or the otherway, where they park properly and
do not hiccup up into the windscreen view when on intermittent wipe.

mine was the 98 sinta and most of this running gear it the same as the veccy
