93 Corsa 4 or 5 gears

    I've just been to look at a 1993 1.2 Corsa.
    Trouble is on the test drive I couldn't get 5th gear.
    The owner says its only 4 speed.
    Is it possible for a car of this year have only 4 gears.
    The gear knob is a fancy one and doesn't show the gear layout. Also the
    logbook doesn't mention 4 or 5 gear.

    Yes it is possible for a car of this age to only have 4 gears
