hi all i have a vauxhall cavalier k reg 2L 4x4i, driving up the M1 the other
night there was a horrible whining noise, then a thud, then the 4x4 light
came on, when i stopped to check it out, there was no burning smells,
nothing looked snapped, i started the motor and it ran fine, it got me home,
can anyone tell me if this will be expensive to repair.

    regards

I'd come give you a hand but sorry up here in Glasgow makes me a tad far
    away :(

it really isnt too difficult to convert over(use an F20) just remove all
the stuff you dont need and flog on ebay plenty 4x4 owners out there willing
to buy what you dont need

good luck on the digi dash swop btw done one into my own cavvy a couple of
months back and was a bit of a bugger :)

Glasgow my glasgow, im from glasgow, last place i lived was in partick, my
dad still lives there, he is in Knightswood, at the old bus station, nice
little house. I got married last week, he had to travel all the way to the
isle of wight for the wedding, darn now thats a drive and a half. i have
some money near the end of the month so im probably going to dump it at the
garage and see what they say, i did take out fuse 19 and the car sounded
better, but it has a noisey starter motor, so gonna get that sorted as well,
now that i have fixed the leak lol. bloody cars, then again it keeps me away
    from the kids.

  6. guess what i've done, bought a f20 4x4 gearbox including transfer box and
prop shaft, got it on auction, the car is running in 2wd at the moment with
no problems, took it to the garage local to me but he wasn't too sure of it,
he'd never worked on a 4x4 cav, might just strip the car down as i have
just bought a astra sri, bloody cars.
