Hi, My 1999 1.7 Astra diesel estate refused to start yesterday after being used for an hour and then parked up for about ten minutes. The RAC couldn't restart it and towed me to the Vauxhall dealer around the corner. The dealer now tells me the fuel pump is shot and a replacement is £2000 plus labour! That's more than the car is worth so I've had it towed home. Can anyone suggest a cheaper option, maybe a specialist fuel pump outfit who would take the job on? Pretty sure they just did a computer diagnostic and didn't actually do anything involving tools, so is there a basic check I can do to verify what they claim? TIA, BF
