    Hi all

I hope someone can help shed some light regarding the servicing requirements
of our '04 Corsa 1.2 Design.

The service manual says the petrol engine is an ECO-FLEX system which tells
the owner when the service is due, or it is every 2 years or 20,000 miles,
    if they come first.

We bought the car last August with 2k miles on the clock. The salesman noted
on our MOT and service reminder sheet that our next service would be in
March 2006 as we had already worked out that we wouldn't be near the 20k
    limit before then.

The InSP indicator that comes on when we start the car has always displayed
'0'. Can someone explain how that works, does it count down the mileage due
to the next service when it is within 9999 miles?

The confusion revealed itself when we received a reminder from the supplying
dealer informing us that the car was due for its service this month. I
contacted the service department and asked why they sent out a reminder
after only one year (admin error maybe) and was told that it depends on how
the car was programmed when it left the factory - either it is 1 year/20k,
or 2 years/20k. I explained that the salesman had told us (2 years/20k), he
confirmed the name of the salesman and said that he must be correct and it
is 2 years/20k and to ignore the service reminder.

What are peoples views on 2 year intervals between services and the oil
change? I am not sure how long we plan to keep the car and am weighing up
the pro's and con's of having a intermediate oil & filter change between
each 2 year service. I know the pro's, it is the quoted £60-£75 that is the
biggest con! Will getting an independent to do an oil change void the
    warranty, Vauxhall's or Network Q's?

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and I look forward to any
    helpful replies.

For this sort of thing it might be worth contacting VX customer services,
whom I have found to be very helpful in the past - people responding to the
NG for this sort ofthing would have different experiences and different
results, and I think what you are after is to find out if your dealership is
    "upselling"..

Give VX all of your car details (reg no engine no, vin , model, trim level,
    engine e.g. "1600cc 8-valve" etc)

    The address is

Vauxhall Motors ltd, Customer Care, Griffin House, Osborne Road, Luton, LU1
    3YT Tel 01582 427200, fax 01582 426694

Personally I always feel more comfortable writing, and then receiving a
    written reply.

As a matter of interest was it a network Q car, which (theoretically) is
serviced as part of the deal?

Do you know when the build date is? The 2004 Corsa 1.2 (built ca. sept
2003 - ca. aug 2004) should be yearly services (or 20,000 miles).
type, so the service interval may be different. I have a 2003 Corsa 1.0
Twinport and the service interval is yearly/20000 miles. The first
service cost me a tad over £100 from a Vauxhall dealer - if you're
paying them nearly £70 for an oil change, I'd have the whole service
done for the service book stamp.

A friend has a 2003 Corsa 1.2 and she had the first service just after
mine - cost about £130 (but it was at a different dealer).

    Thanks for your reply.

That is a good idea, get it in black and white from VX.

It is a Network Q car, although no servicing was mentioned as part of that.
I had a quick look on the Network Q website and couldn't see any further
information regarding services. Do you have a weblink with further info?

Thanks for your reply Tariq. The car was registered in March 2004 - I am not
sure of the build date - is it mentioned under the bonnet? It was described
    as a 2004 car, I know it isn't a twin-port.
I will double check the manual to see what model year it refers too.
Good idea, I will get a quote for this dealers first year service.

    Cheers

If it was first registered March '04 then it will be a 2004 Model Year
car - same as the one my friend has, and AFAIK should be serviced
    yearly/20000miles.

First services for Corsa C is just an oil/filter change and check over
the car. As I said, I paid just over £100 and was originally quoted
about £120 - the usually range of price is around £120-150.
